Founded by designer and architect Moayad Lingga in 2015, Finjan is a Jeddah based design house through which Lingga seeks out the idea of comfort in our daily rituals such as eating, drinking and socializing. At Saudi Design Week, he is showcasing objects that encourage socially ritualistic experiences, where the functionality of the object itself requires the user to be mindful of its form as well as its surroundings. By preparing, serving and sharing small quantities of beverages, users will build a connection to the object and develop an intimate exchange of emotion with people that are sharing in the experience. The cups design is inspired by Arabic patterns that Moayad first witnessed in the window screens of Moroccan mosques. He uses ceramic materials and found beauty in creating something from earthy materials that can be used by humans.
