ARTISTRY IN GLASS

by Anne Donze and Vincent Chagnon

The duo of the Anne Donze and Vincent Chagnon was borne of a desire to create and work and develop during their various partnerships. Their interests and different cultural backgrounds have led them to a common artistic process oriented to the other, travel and play. The pair's sculptures contain stories. We sculpt elements in molten glass and we assemble them with blown glass. Locked, trapped by our breath, as mixing techniques forms a whole, a part of installation.... The theme of our work is confinement, a concept that allows us to capture a story like a photographer who captures a moment in his picture,' said Donze. The pair are interested in glass as a medium for is ability to address the notion of confinement through transparency. Their work work questions the nature of duality and opposition, complementarity and balance and this sense of pairs infuses both their final products and their way of working.
