A Greek Summerhouse Borrows from the Past to Style the Present

Inspired by the Greek earth and sun and the country's traditions, architecture studio OFFICE4 recently designed a bright summerhouse on the island of Rhodes. White tones, grey limewash paint and sunburnt wood set the color scheme for this interior. Through their design, OFFICE4 achieved elegant harmonization between architecture, design, functionality, aesthetics and meaning. White color tones make the space feel spacious and brighter. The clean, strong edges are softened by the more traditional lines of the furniture and dynamic ambient lighting on the roof and walls creates a contrast and intensity amid the otherwise smooth and calm harmony of the living room. Wicker carpets and rustic styling details give the interior a Greek island feel.

A curvy wall flows as if like a wave into the living room and becomes the central piece of the bright space, where it combines with the textures of the grey limewash paint and wood to create intensity and contrast. Just a touch of wood and a subtle metallic finish bring out the satin white lacquer kitchen cabinets. Hexagon patterned white tiles create yet more texture and decorate the kitchen wall perfectly. The big wood and marble rotunda brings a classic vibe to the home. The stone wall hiding behind white paint, in reference to the Greek architectural building material, poses as the background for the dining table.
